APPLICANTS WITH RECENT SECONDARY EDUCATION (WITHIN THE PAST TWO YEARS)
Australian Year 12 students
Completion of Australian Year 12 (or equivalent).
Aspire does not use ATAR selection ranks for admissions.
APPLICANTS WITH HIGHER EDUCATION STUDY
A completed higher education qualification
A minimum of four completed undergraduate subjects (an equivalent of 12 ICMS credit points). Refer to the Advanced Standing Policy for more information.
APPLICANTS WITH VOCATIONAL EDUCATION AND TRAINING (VET) STUDY
Successful completion of a Certificate IV qualification (under the AQF) or its equivalent.
APPLICANTS WITH WORK AND LIFE EXPERIENCE
(Finished secondary education more than two years ago)
Applicants, who are over 18 years of age, may be eligible for admission based on work experience. Applicants will need to present evidence of at least two (2) years of full-time paid work experience. This evidence must be well documented and include the following:
- a CV/resume
- at least two reference letters or statements of service
- job descriptions
- a completed Statement of Purpose e-form
Applicants may also wish to provide evidence of formal, informal or non-formal study completed or partially completed, which demonstrates a reasonable prospect of success in the course applied for.
However, it is not recommended that applicants rely solely on work experience; they should consider supplementing it with the Special Tertiary Admission Test (STAT).
FINISHED SECONDARY EDUCATION MORE THAN TWO YEARS AGO
Applicants that have finished their secondary education some time ago and have no tertiary experience or work experience may still apply with their high school qualification in conjunction with any relevant experience the student has accumulated since then. An application interview may be conducted for a more holistic assessment.
How to Apply
The table below gives an indication of the likely peer cohort for new students at the institution. It provides data on students that commenced an undergraduate study and passed the census date in the most relevant recent intake period for which data are available, including those admitted through all offer rounds and international students studying in Australia.
As this is a new course, the figures below are shown for the equivalent Diploma of International Tourism which was offered in 2019.

Special Entry Pathway (Exceptional Circumstances)
The Aspire Institute supports participation of applicants who may have disability, illness or family disruption and are sensitive to these circumstances. To that end Aspire welcome applications from those with challenging circumstances.
Criteria for Admission
Applicants in any category whose study, work or life experiences have been impacted by disability, illness or family disruption will be given special consideration for admission.
Each application will be considered on its merit, based on the evidence supplied by the applicant attesting to the circumstances of the applicant. Applications must be submitted with supporting documentation for example, a medical practitioner’s report. Admission will be determined on a case by case basis by the DVC (Learning and Teaching).
Disability Access Options
Aspire Institute supports the participation of applicants that may have disability, illness or family disruption and are sensitive to these circumstances. Admission to a course may be considered for applicants whose achievement has been compromised by specific situations beyond the applicant’s control, such as disability, illness or family disruption. Applications must be submitted with supporting documentation for example, a medical practitioner’s report. Admission will be determined on a case by case basis by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Learning and Teaching).
Any supporting documentation must comply with the evidence requirements as follows: health practitioners report or letter; disability assessment report; New South Wales Education Standards Authority (NESA) disability provisions application form; or NESA provisions approval letter.
Applicants with Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander Background
Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander applicants can apply with either recent secondary education, VET study and/or work and life experience pathway. Applicants must also provide “Confirmation of Aboriginality or Torres Strait Islander Heritage” at the time of their application (or at their interview).
Domestic applicants with overseas qualifications
Domestic applicants who have overseas qualifications are assessed using Aspire Institute’s international requirements as found in the entry requirements by country section.
English language proficiency
- Australian Year 12 students must submit a performance band of no less than 2 in English
- English proficiency assessments must be completed no longer than two (2) years prior to commencement or one (1) year prior to commencement for applicants studying/residing in a non-English speaking environment.
- Applicants may sit an Aspire English proficiency test for purposes of entry. Available upon request.
