Rationale

In the context of the qualification, this is a fundamental foundation valuation subject designed to deliver to candidates the skills and knowledge required to assess and conduct the valuation of residential property types, and further, to introduce the fundamental assessment methods to apply in the valuation of income producing property.

Aim

The overall aim of the subject is to introduce you to valuation methodologies that can be applied to the valuation of residential and income producing properties.

Teaching and Learning Strategy

The strategies to achieve these outcomes will be formal lectures, general application of theory to reality based problems with self-study and research.

  1. Obtain, interpret and confirm valuation instructions
  2. Inspect property, conduct research and analyse evidence
  3. Evaluate highest and best, economically viable use
  4. Assess market value of residential property using direct comparison, summation and hypothetical methods and prepare a valuation report to industry standards
  5. Explain the assessment of income producing properties
